Abstract  Abstract

PURPOSE: A channel sounding for improving a system performance is provided to improve the total performance of an OFDM-MIMO system by effectively estimating the current channel condition. CONSTITUTION: A channel sounding processor (201) evaluates the channel condition of a communications link between a transmitter and a receiver. An MAC layer processor (203) establishes the data transmission parameter. A physical layer processor (205) diffuses data bit among subcarrier intervals and transmission antennas (2071-207n). A transport format control processor (206) processes information from the MAC layer processor and physical layer processor. A memory element (210) maintains the history of the channel condition and the determined transmission parameter.
