Abstract  Abstract

PURPOSE: Channel sounding for improving overall system performance is provided to improve overall system performance in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)-MIMO(Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) system by efficiently calculating a current channel state. CONSTITUTION: An MIMO OFDM transmitter(202) generates a sounding request signal of a low rate. The MIMO OFDM transmitter processes a received CSR(Channel Sounding Response) signal. The MIMO OFDM transmitter includes a channel sounding processor(201) to evaluate a channel state of a communication link between a transmitter and a receiver. The MIMO OFDM transmitter comprises a physical layer processor(205), an MAC layer processor(203), a TFC(Transmit Format Control) processor(206), a signal monitoring processor(208), a memory element(210), and a plurality of transmission/reception antennas(2071-207n).
