PURPOSE: A method for implementing SFBC in an OFDM wireless communication system and an apparatus thereof are provided to be implemented in both a receiver and a transmitter with low complexity as satisfying all channel conditions. CONSTITUTION: A transmitter(110) includes a channel encoder(112), a multiplexer(114), a power loading unit(116), a plurality of SFBC encoding units(118), a plurality of serial to parallel converters(120), a plurality of unique beam formers(122) and a plurality of IFFT units(124). The channel encoder encodes data according to a channel quality indicator transmitted from a receiver(130). The multiplexer multiplexes coded data stream into more than two data streams. The power loading unit balances total transmission power for all unique beams by adjusting the power level for data rate of each unique beam. The SFBC encoding unit performs SFBC encoding for the data stream. The serial to parallel(S/P) converter multiplexes the coded block and inputs the multiplexed block to the unique beam former. The IETF unit converts data in a frequency domain into data in a time domain.
