Abstract  Abstract

A method for implementing block coding in space and frequency (SFBC) for multiplex transmissions by orthogonal frequency division (OFDM) of multiple inputs / multiple outputs (MIMO), method comprising: performing a channel coding in at least two data streams ; receive channel status information (CSI) from a MIMO channel; calculate channel energy for modes of the MIMO channel; calculate harmonic interference and signal-to-noise ratios (SNIRs) for own modes based on the calculated channel energy; calculate separation of harmonic SNIRs; determine a data rate that can be supported based on the CSI; group own modes in an order of the channel energy of the own modes; distribute bit rates between own modes based on the separation of SNIRs; mapping pairs of encoded data streams to pairs of own modes for transmission. An apparatus for implementing block coding in space and frequency (SFBC) for orthogonal frequency division multiplex transmissions (OFDM) of multiple inputs / multiple outputs (MIMO) using the method is also disclosed.
