Abstract  Abstract

Method and apparatus for implementing frequency block coding. The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for implementing space frequency block (SFBC) coding in an orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) wireless communication system. The present invention is applicable to closed loop mode and open circuit mode. In closed loop mode, power load and eigen beam formation are performed based on channel state information (CSI). Channel encoded data stream multiplexes into two or more data streams. Power load is performed based on CSI of each of the multiplexed data streams. SFBC encoding is performed on the same data streams for each of the paired subcarriers. Next, CSI-based eigenbeams are formed to distribute eigenbeams to various transmission antennas. Power charging may be performed on two or more SFBC coding blocks or in each eigen mode. In addition, the power load can be carried over subcarriers or subcarrier groups for weak eigen modes.
