A method for transmitting short message service (SMS) message to an interactive wireless local area network user equipment (UE). firstly the over internet protocol short message gateway (IP-SM-GW) log in the UE the UE sends a capability report to the IP-SM-GW the capability report including the capabilities of the UE. from a short message service center (SMSC) transmitting a SMS message to the IP-SM-GW the capability of the UE will be evaluated on the IP-SM-GW to determine whether the UE can receive the SMS message and if the UE has received the call capacity of the SMS message the SMS message is transmitted to the UE via the IP-SM-GW.
