Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for optimizing random access channel (RACH) transmissions from wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) for multiple simultaneous transmissions.SOLUTION: The method for executing uplink transmission at a WTRU includes the steps of: discriminating whether the WTRU has data to be transmitted in the uplink transmission; discriminating whether the WTRU is a member of a group of WTRUs, resources for executing the uplink transmission being allocated to the group of WTRUs; determining a transmission time for the WTRU based on resources available for the group of WTRUs, the transmission time for each of WTRUs in the group of WTRUs being temporally diffused for reducing collision; and executing the uplink transmission of the data within the determined transmission time on the allocated resources, the uplink transmission including no preamble.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
