(57) Summary Diagrams for transport channels that are multiplexed on one or several communication channels are adapted for operation in normal mode and compressed mode, and are thus not active Periods require more reliable symbol rates that are expected in the communication channel. To accommodate the rate in each transport channel, the symbols are imprinted at two different times. The marked symbols are first introduced, which are subjected to various processing steps, in particular, they are interleaved with other information bits before being excluded from the transmitted sequence. Since the processing steps are performed in the same manner in the normal mode and the compression mode, the complexity of components in communication is suppressed.
