Abstract  Abstract

A transport channel multiplexing scheme over one or more communication channels is adapted to operate in a normal mode and in a compressed mode requiring a lower symbol rate in which idle periods are provided in the communication channels. who. To adapt the flow rate on each of the transport channels a symbol punching is carried out in two stages: first marked symbols are introduced which undergo various treatments in particular interleaving with the other bits of information before being deleted from the emitted sequence. These treatments can thus be performed in a similar way in normal mode and in compressed mode which limits the complexity of the entities in communication.
