Abstract  Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention describe devices, methods, computer readable media, and system configurations for configuring downlink cooperative multipoint (CoMP) communications in a wireless communications network. A user equipment (UE) may receive a radio resource control (RRC) transmission from an evolved Node B (eNB) that includes channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) parameters of a plurality of transmission points. The UE may then use a Medium Access Control (MAC) control element (e.g., a MAC) control element, which includes a plurality of index bits corresponding to one or more activated transmission points of the plurality of transmission points for which the feedback module will generate CSI- CE). The eNB may dynamically update the active transmission points for CSI-RS feedback. The UE may receive another MAC CE from the eNB notifying the UE of the updated set of activated transmission points.
