Abstract  Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and system for transmitting and reducing uplink feedback signaling by a wireless transmit / receive device (WTRU) associated with the transmission of a multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) over a high speed downlink packet access (HSDAP) channel. . Node B may pre-allocate a time frequency domain or common channelization code for feedback. Triggering criteria for reporting a channel quality indicator (CQI) are set so that the WTRU sends the CQI to Node B only when it meets the triggering criteria. The triggering criterion may be the current operating CQI value at Node B, or may be based on erroneous transport block reception statistics or a predetermined period of time. The feedback reduction method associated with ACK / NACK includes sending an indication of the average number of transmissions required for the WTRU to successfully decode the data instead of transmitting ACK / NACK during every transmission interval.
