Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus are disclosed for indicating a temporary block flow (TBF) addressed by a piggybacked acknowledgment / non-acknowledgement (PAN) field. The PAN field may be addressed to generate a predetermined sequence from a temporary flow identifier (TFI) that is masked by a PAN check sequence (PCS). Transmit a radio block that includes a PAN field and a masked PCS. The PCS may be masked with one of the selected TFIs according to pre-negotiated rules. The secondary identifier may indicate the TBF addressed by the PAN field. Using a special value, all assigned TBFs can be indicated and the secondary identifier can indicate the TBF addressed by the PAN field. Special values on the PAN field may be used for control purposes to indicate an action affecting the group of receiving stations listening to the radio block.
