Abstract  Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for configuring a context for a connection that delivers packet data services to a mobile terminal via a target radio access network. The mobile terminal is initially connected to the originating radio access network, and packet data services can be provided from the originating radio network to the mobile terminal. In addition, the present invention provides an authentication server, a packet data gateway, and a packet data service support node involved in the context configuration method. In order to provide a method for establishing a connection for packet data service delivery from a radio access network such as UMTS to a mobile terminal as fast as possible, the present invention provides for packet data service via a target radio access network. We propose to perform pre-configuration of service provision by establishing a context before the mobile terminal connects to the target radio access network.
