Abstract
Method and apparatus for providing information to a network are disclosed. An eNodeB (eNB) may receive pattern information relating to connection state management behavior of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The eNB may receive this information over S1 signaling when a connection is established. The eNB may determine a time factor for connection state management, wherein the time factor may be based on the received information. The determine time factor may be used to adjust connection states of the WTRU.

Claim
1. A method of a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
receiving a radio resource control (RRC) configuration in a CONNECTED state utilizing an associated connectivity context of the WTRU; transitioning in a first move to a DORMANT state from the CONNECTED state based on the RRC configuration; transitioning in a second move back to the CONNECTED state from the DORMANT state, wherein the second move further includes utilizing the associated connectivity context.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the second move is triggered by receiving a paging message.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the second move is triggered by sending a request to reconnect.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein the connectivity context information includes security information.
5. The method of claim 1, wherein the RRC configuration is based on a C-RNTI.
6. The method of claim 1, wherein the DORMANT state has a specific DRX configuration.
7. The method of claim 1, further comprising performing cell re-selection while in the DORMANT state.
8. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the WTRU comprising:
a processor, a transceiver operatively coupled to the processor, the transceiver and processor configured to receive a radio resource control (RRC) configuration in a CONNECTED state utilizing an associated connectivity context of the WTRU; the transceiver and processor further configured to transition in a first move to a DORMANT state from the CONNECTED state based on the RRC configuration; and the transceiver and processor further configured to transition in a second move back to the CONNECTED state from the DORMANT state, wherein the second move further includes utilizing the associated connectivity context.
9. The WTRU of claim 8, wherein the second move is triggered by receiving a paging message.
10. The WTRU of claim 8, wherein the second move is triggered by sending a request to reconnect.
11. The WTRU of claim 8, wherein the connectivity context information includes security information.
12. The WTRU of claim 8, wherein the RRC configuration is based on a C-RNTI.
13. The WTRU of claim 8, wherein the DORMANT state has a specific DRX configuration.
14. The WTRU of claim 8, wherein the transceiver and processor are further configured to performing cell re-selection while in the DORMANT state.
