Abstract  Abstract

Techniques for transmit power control for multiple antenna transmissions in the uplink are disclosed. The wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU) generates at least one input stream for transmission and applies a gain factor to each channel. The gain factor is determined based on the reference channel power estimate. The WTRU generates and weights at least two data streams from the input stream for transmission through a plurality of antennas. The gain factor and / or weight is controlled such that the transmit power on each antenna is within the maximum allowable value. The WTRU may perform power scaling on condition that the transmit power on any antenna exceeds a maximum allowable value. The WTRU may scale down the enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) dedicated physical data channel (E-DPDCH) before other channels. For a plurality of E-DCH streams, the WTRU may calculate the E-DPDCH power offset based on additional power offset factors due to the plurality of stream transmissions.
