Abstract
A method and apparatus for transmission of an uplink signal using transmit diversity at a determined transmission power level. The transmission power level is determined using a transmit diversity offset value from a list of transmit diversity offset values that is selected from a list of transmit diversity offset values based on the format of the uplink signal. The format of the uplink signal is associated with a data size of the uplink signal. The transmit diversity offset value is added to determine the transmission power level. The transmit diversity offset value being a delta value.

Claim
1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
a receiver configured to receive a signal from a network, wherein the signal includes a list of transmit diversity offset values; a processor configured to determine a transmission power level for an uplink signal, wherein on a condition that the uplink signal is to be transmitted using transmit diversity, a first transmit diversity offset value from the list is added to determine the transmission power level, wherein the first transmit diversity offset value added to determine the transmission power level is selected from the list based on a format of the uplink signal, the format being associated with a data size of the uplink signal; and a transmitter configured to transmit the uplink signal at the determined transmission power level.
2. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the uplink signal includes a control channel.
3. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the transmit diversity offset value is a delta, ?, value.
4. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the uplink signal is a first uplink signal and the transmitter is configured to transmit a second uplink signal in a same time interval as the transmitted first uplink signal, wherein a transmission diversity of the first uplink signal and the second uplink signal are different.

receiving, by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), a signal from a network, wherein the signal includes a list of transmit diversity offset values; determining, by the WTRU, a transmission power level for an uplink signal, wherein on a condition that the uplink signal is to be transmitted using transmit diversity, a first transmit diversity offset value from the list is added to determine the transmission power level, wherein the first transmit diversity offset value added to determine the transmission power level is selected from the list based on a format of the uplink signal, the format being associated with a data size of the uplink signal; and transmitting, by the WTRU, the uplink signal at the determined transmission power level.
6. The method of claim 5 wherein the uplink signal includes a control channel.
7. The method of claim 5 wherein the transmit diversity offset value is a delta, ?, value.
8. The method of claim 5 wherein the uplink signal is a first uplink signal and the method further comprises transmitting, by the WTRU, a second uplink signal in a same time interval as the transmitted first uplink signal, wherein a transmission diversity of the first uplink signal and the second uplink signal are different.
9. A network node comprising:
a transmitter configured to transmit a signal to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), wherein the signal includes a list of transmit diversity offset values; and a receiver configured to receive an uplink signal from the WTRU, wherein on a condition that the uplink signal was transmitted using transmit diversity, the transmission power level of the uplink signal was determined by addition of a first transmit diversity offset value from the list based on a format of the uplink signal, the format being associated with a data size of the uplink signal.
10. The network node of claim 9 wherein the uplink signal includes a control channel.
11. The network node of claim 9 wherein the transmit diversity offset value is a delta, ?, value.
12. The network node of claim 9 wherein the uplink signal is a first uplink signal and the receiver is configured to receive a second uplink signal in a same time interval as the transmitted first uplink signal, wherein a transmission diversity of the first uplink signal and the second uplink signal are different.
