Abstract  Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for notifying an eNodeB of a transmission power state of a user equipment in a mobile communication system using a component carrier (CC) set. The invention also relates to the implementation of these methods in hardware and in software. The present invention proposes a procedure for notifying an eNodeB of a power usage state of a UE in a communication system using a carrier aggregation. The UE notifies the eNodeB when it is close to utilization of the total maximum UE transmit power, i.e., exceeds the threshold. This is accomplished by the UE including an indicator and / or a new MAC CE that provide power state information to the eNodeB in one or more protocol data units transmitted on each component carrier in one subframe. MAC CE may report power headroom per UE. Alternatively, the MAC CE may report power headroom per CC and / or power reduction applied to each uplink CC.
