Abstract  Abstract

Enhanced MAC-es PDUs are created by concatenating higher layer PDUs and Enhanced MAC-es Service Data Units (SDUs) based on their segments, and segmentation information is included in the enhanced MAC-es header. An enhanced MAC-e header for describing information about the enhanced MAC-es PDU is generated for each enhanced MAC-es PDU. The enhanced MAC-e PDU is generated by concatenating the enhanced MAC-es PDUs with the enhanced MAC-e PDU headers. The enhanced MAC-es PDU header includes a transmission sequence number (TSN) field, a segmentation description (SD) field, a length (L) field to indicate the length of each enhanced MAC-es SDU, and a logical channel indicator (LCH). -ID) field may be included. The enhanced MAC-e header may include one or more logical channel indicator (LCH-ID) fields and a length (L) field for the corresponding enhanced MAC-es PDU or enhanced MAC-es SDU. Various techniques for marking the end of an enhanced MAC-e header are disclosed. In another embodiment, a signaling method via Iub frame protocol is proposed to support MAC segmentation and flexible RLC PDU size.
