Abstract
The MAC-is enhanced PDUs are created by concatenating the MAC-of-service data units (SDUs) based on the top layer PDUs and segments thereof, where segmentation information is included in MAC-headers is improved. An improved MAC-header is generated for each of the MAC-PDUs is enhanced to describe information about the MAC-PDU is enhanced. An enhanced MAC-e PDU is created by concatenating the MAC-e PDUs is enhanced and the MAC-e headers are enhanced. An improved MAC-header can include a Transmission Sequence Number (TSN) field, a Segmentation Description (SD) field, the length (L) fields to indicate the length of each MAC-SDU is enhanced and / or the logical channel indicator fields (LCH-ID). An improved MAC-e header may include one or more logical channel indicator fields (LCH-ID) for the corresponding MAC-is enhanced PDUs or the MAC-enhanced SDUs and the length (L) fields. Several techniques are revealed to indicate the end of the enhanced MAC-e header. In another configuration, the methods for signaling over the Iub framework protocol are proposed in order to support MAC segmentation and the flexible sizes of the RLC PDU.
