Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve a problem in which since a transmission error can not be avoided when an RLC(Radio Link Control) retransmission procedure is executed a delay time may increase by an operation of a timer to an unacceptable delay time.

SOLUTION: Disclosed are a method and an apparatus of transferring discontinuous data blocks in enhanced uplink transmission. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and one or more nodes B include one or more automatic repeat request (ARQ)/hybrid-ARQ processes supporting an E-DCH (Enhanced Dedicated Channel). Data blocks transmitted by the WTRU are re-ordered in a re-ordering entity located in the nodes B or a radio network controller (RNC). When a missing data block is identified a data transfer timer in the node B or the RNC is started. WTRU transmission after that is monitored and whether or not the missing data block is discarded by the WTRU is determined. In the case where the discard of the missing data block is recognized the discontinuous data blocks are transferred to a higher layer.
