An apparatus may comprise a arranged to wireless transmission of the channel state report transmitted in-band channel to the transmitter and the processor of the base station. the device may further include a rank self-adaptive (RA) module operating on the processor to indicate that the transmitter sends the following items: a plurality of sub-band channel quality indicator (CQI) reporting the measurement result of the corresponding sub-band of each sub-band CQI report comprising the transmission band and a rank indicator (RI) report wherein the RI report associated with each sub-band CQI report. The device further may comprise a digital display which is arranged for transmitting information to the device via the base station to display. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.

The apparatus may further include a rank adaptation (RA) module operable on the processor to direct the transmitter to send a multiplicity of sub-band channel quality indicator (CQI) reports each sub-band CQI report comprising a measurement of a respective sub-band of the transmission band and a multiplicity of rank indicator (RI) reports where each sub-band CQI report is accompanied by an RI report. The apparatus may further include a digital display arranged to display information transmitted via the base station to the apparatus. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.
