The invention claims a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) a method and a wireless network device. the WTRU comprising: a processor the processor is configured to periodically interval transmitting channel quality indication (CQI) on the uplink channel; wherein the processor is further configured for radio network temporary identification (RNTI) monitors a downlink channel associated with the WTRU wherein the processor further is configured to response the RNTI associated with detection and the WTRU determining whether a wireless network is requesting the WTRU transmitting the CQI and wherein the processor further is configured to request that the WTRU transmitting the CQI and transmits the CQI to the wireless network in response to determining the wireless network.
