Abstract  Abstract

A method and an apparatus for sending an indication of the quality of the channel (ICC) by means of a shared channel is exposed, while a wireless transmission unit (URTI) is in a state of the ACA Generator, without having a dedicated channel assigned to URTI. A URTI makes a measurement of at least one parameter and generates an ICC based on the measurement. The URTI then transmits the ICC via the random access channel (CAA). The ICC can be transmitted using a preamble of the CAA. A plurality of sound signal sequences can be divided into a plurality of groups. The URTI can select a group based on the ICC and the sound signal sequence, among the sequences of the sound signals in the group selected to transmit the CAA preamble. The ICC may be attached to the CAA preamble. The ICC can be transmitted via a control part or a data part of the CAA message.
