Abstract  Abstract

Method and system of interlaced working of cellular networks and wireless local area networks. Method and system of interleaving work between cellular networks (110) and wireless local area networks (WLANs) (130a, 130b) is described. At least one cellular network 110, at least one WLAN 130a, 130b and one IP network 140 are deployed. Wireless transmission and reception unit (VVTRU) (102) first establishes a connection to WLAN (130a) and a tunnel is established between access point (AP) (132a) and packet data portal (PDG) (129). The PDG (129) further establishes tunnel for IP network (140). WTRU 102 then invokes service which is provided via WLAN 130a. As the signal quality of the AP (132a) is degraded below a predetermined threshold, WLAN (130a) delivery to the cellular network (110) is performed.
