Abstract  Abstract

FIELD: physics communications. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention deals with wireless communication networks. The invention concept consists in the base station (110) of a wireless communication network (100) performing count of the mobile stations (114) receiving broadcast content via a multiuser channel. The base station implements broadcast (608) of a repeated message identifying at least a single broadcast content flow as well as the REGISTER (R) or DO NOT REGISTER (DNR) indicator per each flow. The mobile stations periodically review (722) the message contents. When the indicator value with the broadcast content flow is R the mobile stations whose users have selected it for reception send (714) a message of registration for the specific flow to the base station. When the number of mobile stations having been registered equals (612) the value specified the base station switches (614) the indicator to DNR. When the indicator value with the broadcast content flow is DNR the mobile stations abstain from sending any registration message for the specific broadcast content flow. The base station may request re-count (618) by way of repeatedly assigning the indicator value to be R. ^ EFFECT: accurate count of mobile stations receiving broadcast content. ^ 35 cl 11 dwg
