Abstract  Abstract

This disclosure relates to communication methods and systems that combine fifth generation (5G) communication systems that support higher data rates than fourth generation (4G) systems using IoT (Internet of Things) technology. The present disclosure can be applied to intelligent services based on 5G communication technologies such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services and IoT related technologies. A method of receiving system information (SI) by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method comprises receiving from a BS a first type SI associated with an SI essential for communication with the BS, and receiving from the BS a second type SI associated with at least one SI required by the UE.
