Abstract  Abstract

PURPOSE: A pilot signal searcher in a mobile system receiving part and a method thereby are provided to search for a pilot signal rapidly and effectively in a CDMA system by processing input signals in parallel using a plurality of PN de-spreaders and increasing a searchable offset per unit clock. CONSTITUTION: A pilot signal searcher is composed of the first and second shift register banks(31,32), a despreading bank(50), an adder(34), a coherent operation buffer(35), an energy calculator(36), a non-coherent operator(37), a non-coherent operation buffer(38), an aligner(39), and a buffer(40). The first shift register banks(31) stores PN codes. The second shift register bank(32) stores input data. The despreading bank(50) despreads input data in parallel using PN codes when a preset number of PN codes and input data are stored in the first and second shift register banks(31,32). The adder(34) adds the output signals of the despreading bank(50). The coherent operation buffer(35), storing the output signals of the adder(34) temporarily, adds the stored signals to the next output signal of the adder(34). The energy calculator(36) determines the number of PN codes to accumulate input data for the output signals of the adder(34). The non-coherent operator(37) calculates the average energy value for the output signal of the energy calculator(36). The non-coherent operation buffer(38) temporarily stores the outputs of the non-coherent operator(37). The aligner(39) arrays the outputs of the non-coherent operator(37) in the order of a descending or ascending series. The buffer(40) stores the outputs of the aligner(39) temporarily.
