Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for allocating a reference signal in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The disclosed example apparatus includes a reference signal generator 501 for generating a reference sequence 505 based on a parameter assigned to a wireless area, the parameter being transmitted by a first device in the wireless area during a first time interval. A first reference sequence to be specified, wherein the first reference sequence is different from a second reference sequence assigned to a second device in a second wireless region adjacent to the first wireless region. The reference signal generator includes a cyclic shift selector 503 that selects a cyclic shift for the first time interval based on the parameter, and a cyclic shifter 506 that cyclically shifts the first reference signal based on the selected cyclic shift. ). The example apparatus further includes a transmit adapter 510 for transmitting the cyclically shifted first reference sequence.
