Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for assigning a reference signal in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The disclosed exemplary apparatus includes a reference signal generator (501) for generating a reference sequence (505) based on parameters assigned to the radio domain, where the parameters are the first of the radio domain A first reference sequence transmitted by the device during a first time is designated, and the first reference sequence is assigned to a second device in a second radio area adjacent to the first radio area. This is different from the reference sequence. The reference sequence generator includes a cyclic shift selector (503) for selecting a cyclic shift for the first time based on the parameters, and a cyclic shift for the first reference signal based on the selected cyclic shift. A cyclic shifter (506). The example apparatus further includes a transmit adapter (510) for transmitting the cyclically shifted first reference sequence. (Selection) Figure 5
