Abstract  Abstract

Multi-antenna transmission entities use either (1) a steering vector directing data transmission to the receiving entity or (2) a valid randomized pseudo-random transmission steering (PRTS) mode observed by data transmission across subbands. Send data to a single- or multi-antenna receiving entity. The PRTS mode may be used to achieve transmit diversity or spatial spreading. In transmit diversity, the transmitting entity uses a different pseudo-random steering vector across the subbands but uses the same steering vector across the packets for each subband. In spatial spreading, the transmitting entity uses different pseudo-random steering vectors across the subbands and uses different steering vectors across the packets for each subband. Only the transmitting entity and the receiving entity know the steering vector used for data transmission.
