Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for requesting resources for transmitting data on uplink within a mobile communication system.

SOLUTION: A mobile terminal can transmit to a network entity for allocating resources a resource request via a contention-based channel and receive a resource allocation message for permitting resources for transmitting data via a scheduled common channel in response to the resource request. The mobile terminal can transmit to the network entity for allocating resources scheduling information via the scheduled common channel in response to the resource allocation message. A mobile station can receive a second resource allocation message for permitting resources for transmitting user data to the mobile terminal on the scheduled common channel in response to the transmission of the scheduling information.
