A method for requesting resources to transmit data on the uplink within a mobile communication system that uses an uplink scheme comprising transmissions on a programmed shared channel and a contention-based channel, the method comprises the following steps performed by the mobile terminal: transmitting (601) a resource request to a network entity responsible for resource allocation through a contention-based channel; and receive, in response to the resource request, a resource allocation message that grants resources to transmit data through the programmed shared channel; characterized in that the method further comprises: receiving, in response to the resource request, a time adjustment command from the network entity responsible for the resource allocation; and realign (803) the uplink time according to the time setting command.
