Abstract  Abstract

A method of providing data for transmission in a multi-input and multi-output MIMO wireless communication system, the method comprising: processing data (112, 114) to obtain at least one block of data symbols; dividing (114) the at least one block of data symbols into a plurality of sub-blocks of data symbols; select (118) an orientation matrix for each sub-block of data symbols; spatially processing (118, 120) the at least one block of data symbols with a plurality of orientation matrices to obtain a plurality of sequences of transmission symbols, each sequence corresponding to a different sub-block of the at least one block of symbols of data, wherein spatially processing the at least one block of data symbols comprises spatially processing each sub-block of data symbols with the orientation matrix selected for that sub-block; providing (122) the plurality of sequences of transmission symbols to a plurality of transmission antennas for transmission, in which the plurality of orientation matrices randomize an effective MIMO channel observed by a receiving entity for the at least one block of data symbols performing spatial processing with the plurality of orientation matrices.
