A base station and a terminal in a communication system and a method performed by the base station and the terminal are provided, wherein the method performed by the terminal in the communication system comprises: receiving a system information block, SIB, on a downlink frequency band from a base station, the SIB including configuration information of a first frequency band for uplink transmission and a second frequency band for uplink transmission; transmitting a random access preamble on the first frequency band or on the second frequency band to the base station based on random access information contained in the SIB; receiving downlink control information, DCI, from the base station, the DCI including an indicator indicating an uplink transmission on the first frequency band or an uplink transmission on the second frequency band; and transmitting data to the base station on the first frequency band or the second frequency band based on the indicator, wherein a bit length of the indicator is 1.
