The invention claims a method and device for switching wireless technology implemented in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). wherein the method comprising: the WTRU sending a first message via a first wireless network wherein the first wireless network based on a first wireless technology the first message indicating that the WTRU can use the second wireless technology to communicate. and the second wireless technology and the first wireless technology is different; and the WTRU via the first wireless network receives the second message one or more wireless network wherein the second message responsive to the first message and the second message comprises a based on the second wireless technology identifier; and the WTRU initiating a handoff from the one or more wireless network to a second wireless network.
