Abstract  Abstract

The invention claims a self-adaptive pilot of MIMO-OFDM system is inserted. transmitting entity in each protocol data unit (PDU) sends the basic pilot symbols. in the normal (or most of) signal path condition receiving entity can use the base pilot frequency symbol to implement adequately accurate channel response the MIMO channel estimation. transmitting entity according to need e.g. based on channel conditions and/or other factors selectively sending additional pilot frequency symbol. additional pilot symbols can be self-adaptively almost in any symbol cycle is inserted in PDU. receiving entity can use the additional pilot frequency symbol to obtain improved signal path response estimation. transmitting entity for transmitting indicating signaling of additional pilot frequency symbol is being sent. The signaling can be embedded by a pilot symbol of a group of pilot frequency subband transmission carrier wave pilot frequency symbol in carrier pilot symbols transmitted in the most part of the PDU. The signaling designates whether the additional pilot frequency symbol is being transmitted or possible other relative information.
