A communication apparatus provides services to a communication device. The communication apparatus comprises a private base station for communicating with a communication device authorised to use the private base station and a gateway communicatively coupled to the private base station for providing access to an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network and at least one other communication network such as a Circuit Switched (CS) network. The private base station is arranged to select a route for providing a service to the communication device through the private base station and gateway the selected route being one of a route between the communication device and the IMS network and a route between the communication device and the at least one other communication network. The private base station is arranged to select a route based on the service to be provided.
