Abstract
A method for operating a base station in a wireless communication system in order to support a plurality of propagation characteristics is provided. The method includes allocating resource periods for respective propagation characteristics transmitting system information including information on the propagation characteristics transmitting a reference signal with the propagation characteristic corresponding to the relevant resource period through at least one of the resource periods and receiving feedback information determining channel qualities for all of the propagation characteristics.

Claim
1. A method for operating a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
transmitting reference signals of at least one type among a plurality of types; receiving feedback information comprising information regarding channel quality corresponding to the at least one type; and transmitting data signals through a resource of the at least one type, which is determined based on the feedback information, wherein the plurality of types comprises at least one of a beam pattern, polarization characteristics, antenna structure, a wave strength, and a beamwidth.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitting of the reference signals comprises,
transmitting a first set of reference signals of a first type through a first resource; and transmitting a second set of reference signals of a second type through a second resource.
3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
transmitting system information comprising information regarding the plurality of types.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein the resource is determined based on at least one of the channel quality corresponding to the at least one type, a data type for a terminal, a distribution of terminals, a size of a cell of the base station, and a distance from the terminal.
5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
determining a channel quality corresponding to a different type based on the channel quality corresponding to the at least one type and information regarding interference corresponding to the different type.
6. A method for operating a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
receiving reference signals of at least one type among a plurality of types; transmitting feedback information comprising information regarding channel quality corresponding to the at least one type; and receiving data signals through a resource of the at least one type, which is determined based on the feedback information, wherein the plurality of types comprises at least one of a beam pattern, polarization characteristics, antenna structure, a wave strength, and a beamwidth.
7. The method of claim 6, wherein the receiving of the reference signals comprises,
receiving a first set of reference signals of a first type through a first resource; and receiving a second set of reference signals of a second type through a second resource.
8. The method of claim 6, further comprising:
receiving system information comprising information regarding the plurality of types.
9. The method of claim 6, wherein the resource is determined based on at least one of the channel quality corresponding to the at least one type, a data type for the terminal, a distribution of terminals, a size of a cell of a base station, and a distance from the terminal.
10. The method of claim 6, wherein the feedback information comprises information regarding interference corresponding to another type which is different from the at least one type.
11. An apparatus for a base station in a wireless communication system, the apparatus comprising:
a transmitter configured to:
transmit reference signals of at least one type among a plurality of types, and
transmit data signals through a resource of the at least one type, which is determined based on feedback information; and
a receiver configured to receive the feedback information comprising information regarding channel quality corresponding to the at least one type, wherein the plurality of types comprises at least one of a beam pattern, polarization characteristics, antenna structure, a wave strength and a beamwidth.
12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the transmitter is further configured to:
transmit a first set of reference signals of a first type through a first resource, and transmit a second set of reference signals of a second type through a second resource.
13. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit system information comprising information regarding the plurality of types.
14. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the resource is determined based on at least one of the channel quality corresponding to the at least one type, a data type for a terminal, a distribution of terminals, a size of a cell of the base station, and a distance from the terminal.
15. The apparatus of claim 11, further comprising:
a controller configured to determine a channel quality corresponding to a different type based on the channel quality corresponding to the at least one type and information regarding interference corresponding to the different type.
16. An apparatus for a terminal in a wireless communication system, the apparatus comprising:
a receiver configured to:
receive reference signals of at least one type among a plurality of types, and
receive data signals through a resource of the at least one type, which is determined based on the feedback information; and
a transmitter configured to transmit the feedback information comprising information regarding channel quality corresponding to the at least one type, wherein the plurality of types comprises at least one of a beam pattern, polarization characteristics, antenna structure, a wave strength and a beamwidth.
17. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the receiver is further configured to:
receive a first set of reference signals of a first type through a first resource, and receive a second set of reference signals of a second type through a second resource.
18. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the receiver is further configured to receive system information comprising information regarding the plurality of types.
19. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the resource is determined based on at least one of the channel quality corresponding to the at least one type, a data type for the terminal, a distribution of terminals, a size of a cell of a base station, and a distance from the terminal.
20. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the feedback information comprises information regarding interference corresponding to another type which is different from the at least one type.
