Abstract  Abstract

Physical layer processing and procedures for generation and transmission of D2D detection signals and scheduling of D2D detection signals are described. The detection and measurement of the D2D discovery signal, the management of the D2D signal identity, and the monitoring by the WTRU of the PDCCH for D2D discovery scheduling are described as being WTRUs that may be configured with a D2D specific transmit / receive opportunity pattern. The discovery signal may carry a payload for explicit information about the user and / or service identity and may be mapped to physical resources in such a manner as to cause the transmission / reception of the discovery signal to be decoupled from the downlink operations . The WTRU may also measure the D2D discovery signal quality and report to the network.
