Abstract  Abstract

Disclosed is a resource metric quantization used for a resource of a wireless data communication system. In one embodiment, the quantization comprises the steps of measuring signal parameters for a plurality of frequency partitions, setting a first resource metric for a first frequency partition to a first value, at a second frequency partition and a third frequency partition Comparing the measured signal parameter with respect to the measured signal parameter for the first partition to determine a second resource metric and a third resource metric for the second and third frequency partitions, respectively; Encoding a third resource metric, and transmitting the encoded resource metrics to a remote radio station.
