Abstract  Abstract

A method and system are provided having a pilot signal and uplink control structure with minimal signal overhead for providing channel estimation and data demodulation in a wireless communication network. The uplink control structure allows the mobile terminal to communicate with a corresponding base station to obtain initial system access, to submit a bandwidth request, to trigger a continuation of the negotiated service, or to provide a proposed allocation reconfiguration header. Perform various functions, including A dedicated random access channel is provided for communication connection between the base station and the mobile terminal so that the mobile terminal can select random access signaling identification. The resource request is received at the base station to uplink resource information from the mobile terminal and the initial access information request is received from the mobile terminal to establish a base station connection. Pilot signals varying the density configuration are provided to include a low density symbol pattern for multiple adjacent resource blocks and a high density symbol pattern for a single resource block.
