Abstract  Abstract

(I.e., handoff) between two different terminals operating in accordance with two different technical standards of two different systems with Internet Protocol (IP) traffic having two different IP addresses. For example, a session handoff may occur between a terminal of a wireless local area network (WLAN) and a terminal of a 3GPP UMTS or a terminal of a CDMA2000 and a terminal of a 3GPP UMTS. These terminals may be physically independent entities, or they may be logical entities embedded in a common enclosure.
