Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for resource management for multimedia broadcast multicast services (MBMS) are disclosed. A wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU) may send a measurement report value and an MBMS receive performance report value to the network. The cell reselection information, the WTRU macrodiversity MBMS reception performance, the neighbor cell signal strength reported by the WTRU, the interference level measured by the WTRU, the number of WTRUs in the cell, the service priority, the WTRU class, the WTRU mobility trend, A single frequency network (SFN) domain change may be made based on the WTRU location, the WTRU MBMS receive interference level, and so on. MBMS service on / off decisions and / or point-to-point (PTP) / point-to-multipoint (PTM) switching may be based on the channel condition of the WTRU. The channel state may be determined based on whether the WTRU is in a tuned state or an untuned state in MBMS reception, successive negative acknowledgments (NAK) in a particular time window, measured path loss from a reference channel, and the like.
