Abstract  Abstract

method and device for resource management for multicast transmission of multimedia services. A resource management method and device for multimedia broadcast / multicast (MBMS) services is presented. A Wireless Transmit / Receive (WTRU) unit sends a measurement report and an MBMS reception performance report to a network. single frequency network (sfn) area change can be made based on information about the cell signal, mbms reception performance, the signal strength of the neighbor cell reported by a wtru, the interference level measured by the wtru, the amount of wtrus in a cell, the priority of the service, the wtru class, the wtru mobility trend, the wtru location in the center of the cell, the level of interference with wtrms receiving wbms, and so on. The decision to enable / disable the mbms service and / or switch from point to point (ptp) to point to multiple points (ptm) can be made based on the channel condition of a wtru. channel condition can be determined based on whether wtru is in sync or out of sync on mbms reception, in consecutive negative naks within a given time window, in the path loss measurement of a reference, etc. alternatively, it is envisaged to configure the proper wtru circuit to receive a broadcast / multicast (mbms) service on a single frequency network (sfn) from a plurality of cells. during reception, said circuit is configured to search for a second cell, the second cell being distinct from the plurality of cells. after proceeding to search the second cell by identifying said second cell, said circuit is further configured to transmit an uplink signaling to said second cell, which signaling is a counting procedure that performs the connection of the resource control radio (rcc) in order to update the cell.
