Abstract  Abstract

A method and system are disclosed for reporting E-UTRAN (Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunication Systems (UMTS) terrestrial radio access network) capability. The wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU) sends a first message to the core network (CN) informing the E-UTRAN performance of the WTRU. The CN then updates the performance of the WTRU based on the first message. The first message may include a radio access capability information element (IE) carrying information about the E-UTRAN capability of the WTRU and / or a network capability IE carrying information about the network performance of the WTRU. The CN may send a second message to the WTRU informing it of the network capabilities for the Radio Access Network (RAN) to which the core network has connected and the services that may be provided via the E-UTRAN.

UMTS, E-UTRAN, Core Network, Messages, Access, Wireless.
