The invention relates to a method for monitoring message traffic and to a first and second network unit for the execution thereof. During the method for monitoring message traffic between a communications unit (KE) and a first network unit (NE1) of a mobile radio system this message traffic being initiated by an SIP control message (10) the SIP control message is evaluated by a second network unit (NE2) by using at least one analysis parameter (AYP) and an analysis result (AYE) is generated therefrom. The analysis result (AYE) is used for generating at least one item of utilization information (NI) and the utilization information (NI) is transmitted (15) to the first network unit (NE1) and the utilization information (NI) of the first network unit (NE1) is used for monitoring the message traffic between the communications unit (KE) and the first network unit (NE1). The invention also relates to a first network unit (NE1) comprising means for monitoring message traffic between (20) a communications unit (KE) and the first network unit (NE1) of a mobile radio system. The invention further relates to a second network unit (NE2) comprising means for carrying out the inventive method.

The invention further relates to a second network unit (NE2) comprising means for carrying out the inventive method.
