A method for service activation of Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) comprising: after being authorized the User Equipment (UE) which needs to receive an MBMS bearer service creating an MBMS UE context and requesting the Serving GPRS Support Nodes (SGSN) to create an MBMS UE context; the SGSN creating the MBMS UE context a GGSN creating the MBMS UE context and then a BM-SC creating the MBMS UE context then the follow-up processing of MBMS bearer service activation continuing. Through this method the BM-SC can create the MBMS UE context so as to make perfect the MBMS bearer service activation; besides this method simplifies the operation process makes redundant signaling decreased optimizes signaling traffic avoids repeated process and increases the processing efficiency.
