Abstract  Abstract

The invention claims a technique for cooperative radio resource control state management in a two-connection architecture. In one embodiment for example primary evolved node B (HeNB) may include at least a portion of the hardware of the logic the logic for sending the activity notification message to indicate the RRC of a user equipment (UE) for double connection inactivity timer expires receiving in response to the state of the activity notification message decision message and state determination message based on determining whether connection of the UE into a RRC idle state. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Coordination techniques for radio resource control state management in dual-connectivity architectures are described. In one embodiment for example a master evolved node B (MeNB) may comprise logic at least a portion of which is in hardware the logic to send an inactivity notification message to indicate an expiration of an RRC_Inactivity_Timer for a dually-connected user equipment (UE) receive a state decision message in response to the inactivity notification message and determine whether to transition the dually-connected UE to an RRC_Idle state based on the state decision message. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
