Coordination techniques for radio resource control state management in dual-connectivity architectures are described. In one embodiment for example a master evolved node B (MeNB) may comprise logic at least a portion of which is in hardware the logic to send an inactivity notification message to indicate an expiration of an RRC_Inactivity_Timer for a dually-connected user equipment (UE) receive a state decision message in response to the inactivity notification message and determine whether to transition the dually-connected UE to an RRC_Idle state based on the state decision message.
