Provided are a method and apparatus for communications bandwidth allocation scheduling and signaling for dynamic resource services in real time variable data (RTS) in systems for the long term evolution (LTE). Preferably changes in data rate for RTS traffic by upper link are reported to an evolved node b (enb) by an EU use of layer 1.2 or 3. The enb dynamically allocates physical resources in response to a change in data rate by means of adding or removing radio blocks currently won in the data stream and the enb sianliza the new allocation of resources for the eu. In an alternate embodiment tables stored at the enb and the EU describe mappings of speeds of RTS data to physical resources under certain channel conditions such that the eu use the table to locally assign physical resources according to changes in ul data rates. In addition it is also disclosed a method and apparatus for high level configuration of flows of RTS data.
